Steaming honey lemon tea with fresh lemon for a soothing, comforting drink

Soothing Honey Lemon Tea

A classic comforting tea for sore throats that is warm and hydrating.  The raw honey soothes while providing natural antimicrobial benefits. Choose from one of our different honey varieties to mix with your tea to find your new favorite combination.

Cooking Time: 5 min | Servings: 1 | Difficulty: Easy

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups hot water (just under boiling)
  • 1 tbsp raw honey
  • 1–2 tbsp fresh lemon juice (to taste)
  • Optional boosters (we suggest picking one or two):
    • 2–3 thin slices fresh ginger
    • A pinch of ground turmeric
    • 1 cinnamon stick
    • 1–2 mint leaves

Method:

  1. Heat water until steaming, not aggressively boiling — excessive heat can dull lemon flavor and degrade honey aromatics.
  2. Add ginger and/or cinnamon first (if using). Let steep 3–5 minutes.
  3. Stir in lemon juice.
  4. Add honey last, when the tea is comfortably warm.
  5. Adjust acidity or sweetness to taste.

Why This Recipe Works:

  • Honey coats the throat and gives a smoother mouthfeel.
  • Lemon adds acidity that brightens flavor and supports hydration.
  • Ginger / cinnamon add warmth and deeper aromatic notes if you want more "body."

For a stronger therapeutic profile, use instead greater amounts of ginger, lemon and honey:

  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger (grated)
  • 1 tbsp lemon
  • 1 tbsp honey

💡 Tip: Add a teaspoon of our Elderberry Syrup!
